New Year's Celebrations

If an evening of good music is more to your liking, the House of Blues might have something right in your neighborhood. For instance, Tom Jones is headlining at their Los Angeles restaurant along the Sunset Strip -- all the details are available at their Web site. You'll also find information about their original restaurant in Harvard Square as well as others in the French Quarter in New Orleans or Downtown Disney in Orlando. They also host the "Virtual House of Blues" where you can listen to live concerts online.

Still need something for your immediate area? CompuServe's Digital City offers a wide variety of local information on cities ranging from Albuquerque to West Palm Beach. Each city has its own guide to events with maps and detailed directions to help get you there.

If you'd rather spend a quiet evening at home, why not join some of your friends for an online bash? The California Forum on CompuServe is hosting its annual New Year's Eve Marathon. If you've always wanted to spend New Year's Eve traveling the world and celebrating in every time zone, here's your chance to do it in cyberspace. Begin the party in New Zealand and end it in Western Samoa, virtually crossing 34 time zones. This may just be the best party of all! ;-)

While you're thinking about New Year's Eve parties, you may want to get a jump start on your planning for next year. According to my sources, the hottest tickets in town are already getting snapped up! An online resource for keeping track of Year 2000 parties is New Year's Eve 2000. Whether you're looking to paint the town red or plan a party in your home, there's a little something here for everyone.

Happy New Year!

Best wishes & happy surfing!
