Epicurean Adventures on the Internet

Maybe you're just in the mood for a good, old-fashioned PIZZA! Not to worry, PizzaNet lets you order pizzas right from your computer. Simply tell them your zip code and area code, and PizzaNet will present you with a list of local pizzerias from which to choose. Place our order online and have a piping hot pizza delivered to your door! How convenient! Don't see your favorite pizzeria on the list? PizzaNet allows you to nominate your favorite pizza parlor to be added to their offerings.

Okay, so maybe you're not really hungry after all, but you wouldn't mind having a virtual pizza delivered to your screen. Yes, you heard me right! Leave it to our friends at Chico State, party capital of the CSU circuit, to come up with The Internet Pizza Server. Here you will find a pizza menu -- just select your toppings from a list of some traditional and some very unusual toppings. Click on "order" and within minutes, a pizza will be delivered right to your screen, complete with the toppings you selected! Not edible, but definitely fun.

If you're looking a more upscale virtual nosh, then drop by the Virtual Sushi Bar. Here you are presented with an extensive sushi menu, complete with prices. Select your items -- the unagi looked quite good -- and submit your order. You will be presented with your "bill" and within moments, a plate will appear on your screen with your selected items, including some tea and a side of wasabi!

If you're not in the mood to sit there drooling over a screen full of food you can't eat, then perhaps you should stop by the Restaurant at the End of the Universe which is an NBBS (Net Bulletin Board System) dedicated to discussions related to ... no, not food ... but the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Okay, so this isn't a food related item, but I just had to throw it in anyway! ;-)

Best wishes & happy surfing!

DECADENT ICE CREAM CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 box Nilla Wafers, crushed
1 quart chocolate ice cream, softened
1 quart French vanilla ice cream, softened
6 Heath bars, crushed
Chocolate syrup
Kahlua

Line the bottom of a 10-inch spring-form pan with foil, and insert bottom into pan. Be sure that the seal is tight. Spread half of the Nilla wafers over the bottom of the pan to form a crust. Spread chocolate ice cream over the crust. Sprinkle remaining Nilla wafers and 3 of the Heath bars over the chocolate ice cream. Drizzle about 2 tablespoons of both the chocolate syrup and Kahlua over that. Top that with the vanilla ice cream. Sprinkle remaining Heath bars on top, and drizzle chocolate syrup and Kahlua on top to decorate. Freeze overnight.

Remove from pan before serving.
